Glass art scavenger hunt
Take the scavenger hunt ‘Brilliant glass’ in Museum JAN and learn much more about glass art and its production process. Always wanted to know how to blow glass? Then watch our video at the top of the museum about glass blowing in collaboration with Klokhuis and glass blowing company De Oude Horn. The treasure hunt is available at the cash register without obligation. Fun for young and old. Come along and be surprised by the magic of glass!

What do you see through the window? The setting sun, playing children, a train rushing past – or something that only you can think of? In this workshop you will paint on glass and create your own viewing window.

Entrance Tour Ossip Zadkine - Men, Myth & Metamorphosis
On Saturday, 19 July, join the extra free entrance tour through the exhibition Ossip Zadkine - Men, Myth and Metamorphosis. Ossip Zadkine (1888-1967) was inspired by classical antiquity and nature. His work centres on myths and metamorphoses. Museum JAN in Amstelveen is devoting an exhibition this summer and autumn to this Russian-French artist, who enjoys international fame as the creator of the war memorial “The destroyed city” in Rotterdam. Besides a select group of sculptures typical of Zadkine's view of art and artistry, a lesser-known part of his work will also be on display in Amstelveen. With his expressive gouaches, lithographs and etchings, Zadkine demonstrated an exceptional double talent.

Sculptor Ossip Zadkine is inextricably linked to the Netherlands. His famous monument The Destroyed City in Rotterdam is for many the symbol of the suffering of war. But Zadkine's connection with our country goes much further. Discover how Zadkine was inspired by Vincent van Gogh and which works he made for Dutch collectors and clients including Jan van der Togt. Follow his life and work, with special attention to Paris, where he lived and worked for a large part of his life - in the midst of the vibrant artist life of the twentieth century. A lecture full of stories, images and context — as a deepening of the exhibition Ossip Zadkine, Man, Myth & Metamorphosis in Museum JAN.

We fold a pop-up house that you close like a book, with windows and landscapes full of colour, poetry and meaning. Together at the table you use colourful paper to build your landscape and choose (song)texts or cut out a poem that suits you. Be inspired by the work of artist Koen Vermeule and turn your house into a mini work of art full of stories. Give it as a gift to someone who could use a smile and tell what your house says.

On Saturday, 5 July, join the free entrance tour through the exhibition Koen Vermeule - Poetry Suite. A wide selection of works are on show at Museum JAN. Paintings and gouaches - many of them never shown before - that depict his world, his perception, his view of the environment and the people in it. The images originate in unspectacular, everyday life. The urban landscapes are often pointed observations of our own time and contemporary human behaviour, while his landscapes are characterised by silence and timelessness.

On Saturday, 12 April, join the free entrance tour through the first museum solo exhibition of Boris de Beijer. De Beijer graduated from the Rietveld Academy as a jewellery designer. Since then, he has led an interdisciplinary practice in which his work manoeuvres between the functional and the autonomous.

Dance in dialogue with Otto B. de Kat - A Dance Performance among the Paintings
‘You have to paint what is your own life,’ Otto B. de Kat said in 1978.
His paintings do not show fleeting impressions, but a tranquil world full of pensive inspiration. Inspired by this atmosphere, dance teachers and performers bring Elodie Emilisa and Talitha Verbree his work to life in a unique dance performance on stage.

Family workshop ‘Puzzle Post’: A secret letter in your mother tongue, fold and decorate. Ra ra ra what's in my letter? In the time of the English Queen Victoria (more than124 years ago!), people wrote letters in a very special way. They folded the paper into a nice shape, decorated it with drawings and wrote a secret message or a little poem.

Have you always wanted to make a crazy, funny or cool head? This is your chance! Artist Boris de Beijer was inspired by antiquity. His heads on a stick look like time travellers! But where does your head come from? From a crazy fantasy world, a comic book or maybe from another planet?
